Beneteau has established itself over many decades as the leading pleasure-craft maker, having sold 100,000 boats around the world. Four million people are reckoned to have sailed on board a Beneteau, its boats have covered a billion miles of ocean in all parts of the globe and the company has won some hundred innovation and design awards in more than 20 countries. It all began in 1884 on the quayside at Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie in the Vendée in France. It has been an incredible journey from the first fishing boats that Benjamin Beneteau decided to equip with a motor to the latest yachts and motorboats.
The Beneteau Group has remained a family business for several generations and Annette Beneteau-Roux, the founder’s granddaughter, still sits on the Board as Deputy Chairman. Each year, the parent company produces millions of runabouts, yachts, trawlers, sailing boats, catamarans, and semi-custom and mega yachts, with dozens of models ranging from 16 to 150 feet, and it is represented in Mauritius by Yacht Management.
Yacht Management was set up in 2003 and became a subsidiary of Rogers Aviation last year. Its sales office is strategically located close to the Intergrated Resort Scheme of La Balise Marina in Black River, on the West Coast of Mauritius. It offers boating enthusiasts a wide range of new and second-hand models, all from prestigious manufacturers.
Yacht Management’s association with the world leader in pleasure craft means the company is able to offer reliable, attractive and practical sailing and motor boats from the highly skilled Beneteau team. Benjamin Beneteau’s pioneering spirit lives on and is evident in the innovation and enthusiasm still shown by the 2,500-strong workforce, backed up by the 400 representatives found on all five continents, including eight in Africa.
The Beneteau attitude is well summed up by a quote from the firm’s souvenir magazine published in 2014, celebrating its 130th anniversary. “Far from the nostalgia that sometimes prevails when the past has an aura of success, the Beneteau teams look to the future with growing enthusiasm and desire. Drawing renewable energy from the founding values of the brand, they always have a few boats in mind well before others: the adventure continues!”
