Staying at Heritage Bel Ombre is a 5-star experience. However, this 2,500 hectare estate where sits an abundant untamed nature is also home now to a typically Mauritian Hosted Bed & Breakfast situated next to the Château. The two different types of accommodation available offer distinct experiences, yet with one thing in common: a comfortable home-from-home feeling in a unique, peaceful setting. What’s your preference between Heritage The Villas and Kaz’alala Hosted B&B?
Arrive in style
Kaz’alala Hosted B&B is on the right in front of Heritage Le Château. There is a guest parking area on the verge of a palm grove. The lodge’s Moke sets the tone for a holiday vibe. The host, Véronique is at her counter and welcomes me with a fresh drink made with lime from the garden. She is always up for a chat and friendly, and it feels like I have known her my whole life. Originally from Rodrigues, she was Miss World Mauritius in 2016. She tells me with a laugh that she lost the coat lent to her by the former President of the Republic while she was in Washington for the international pageant.
The aged trees in the garden are marked with a sign (lychee, avocado, lime, jackfruit, etc.); there is also a vegetable garden. A small swimming pool is tucked among banana trees, next to the pétanque pitch and the F&B outlet serving drinks and light snacks. This welcoming place with a friendly team will make you feel like you’re staying with friends! The homemakers, Sureka and Sheila are chatting with the waiters, Sergio and Vanessa. Everyone seems to get on well.
We head to Heritage C Beach Club for a quick check-in. We pass by the beautiful Château with its French gardens on the way to our villa. The imposing wooden door opens onto a spectacular view. Home sweet home. The children place their luggage in one of the rooms and take a dip into the overflow pool overlooking the lush tropical garden. For my part, I sink into a deckchair with a book – and let the holiday begin!
Heritage The Villas invites you to enjoy the charming setting of Heritage Villas Valriche as well as access to all surrounding facilities: two 5-star hotels and their spa, a championship golf course, a renovated beach club, a biosphere reserve and a splendid 19th century colonial house now housing a gourmet restaurant – you won’t have time to get bored. Your biggest challenge will be to live all the experiences available on the Domaine!
Kaz’alala Hosted B&B has teamed up with a charity from Souillac, Maison Familiale Rurale, to provide hospitality training to two young school drop-outs.
Comfort, 2 ways
Kaz’alala Hosted B&B has 19 rooms in four sugar estate houses – including a more-than-200-year-old stone house. The materials used, including rattan, tiles, wood, tin and raffia have been carefully selected as a nod to the island’s past, with a chic tropical twist. The cosy air-conditioned rooms have a very good Wi-Fi connection. Each house has a living room, a veranda and a shared kitchenette, which is especially convenient for families with children. A barbecue is also available.
Heritage The Villas offers the comfort and privacy of a home combined with a 5-star resort experience. The bed linen smells fresh, the common areas are tastefully decorated and the bathrooms are well equipped. The private golf cart is a delight for the children, and I am thrilled by the great outdoor barbecue (especially since the kitchen is equipped with all necessary cooking utensils). With a washing machine, a dishwasher, satellite channels, a large fridge, and daily housekeeping, travelling with your family has never been easier!
