Maiden flight on the Paris-Mauritius route in 1936

Two French pilots and a radio operator left Le Bourget in the Paris region for Mauritius on 16 December 1936. Eight days later, after many stops for refuelling, the three men’s Farman aircraft landed in Saint-Denis, Reunion Island, before heading for Mauritius. This was the beginning of intercontinental air transport to and from the island.
