The AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open 2022 is back!

Mauritius hosted the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open (ABMO) 2022 tournament from December 15th to 18th. This tournament, co-sponsored by the Sunshine Tour and the DP World Tour, was played on the international course of Mont Choisy Le Golf in the north of the island for the first time. Sponsored by Rogers, this event attracted the best professional golfers, including South African Dean Burmester. Looking forward to 2023, the seventh AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open will be held in Bel Ombre, on the new and prestigious La Réserve Golf Links course.

Bel Ombre in the spotlight for ‘Best Tourism Villages 2022’

The village of Bel Ombre has been selected to participate in the ‘Best Tourism Villages 2022’ competition, organised by the World Tourism Organisation. Artificial intelligence for a better future

The experts at Rogers Capital Technology have taken innovation a step further by developing four revolutionary products using artificial intelligence and robotic process automation: • TranscrAI, a digital transcriber that generates automatic and secure board minutes; • ExtrAI, a software that automates compatibility; • Oriyel, a virtual desktop that allows employees to access their documents and applications via a highly secure browser (see article on page 78); • MedAI, which supports medical imaging by reporting lung abnormalities. In addition to saving considerable time, these technological innovations eliminate the risks associated with human error and improve the efficiency and productivity of companies.

77 years of collaboration between Air France and Rogers

The 128th General Assembly of the Association of French-speaking Air Carriers (ATAF) brought together some of the world’s largest air operators in Mauritius on September 30th and October 1st, to reflect on the economic, geopolitical, and climatic issues that are currently – and increasingly – affecting the aviation sector. This equally provided an ideal moment for Air France and Rogers – represented respectively by the Chief Executive Officer Anne Rigail and Chief Executive Officer, Philippe Espitalier-Noël – to celebrate 77 years of collaboration.

Velogic, a noteworthy entry on the Mauritius Stock Exchange

Fiduciary: a programme to accelerate graduate recruitment

Agrïa launches its first educational vegetable garden!

A pioneering project for Mauritius, in Bel Ombre in the southern region of the island: creating an educational vegetable garden of 1,200m² to train local agri-entrepreneurs in Sustainable Tropical Agriculture. This project, spearheaded by Agrïa, with professional support from the Reunionese agricultural training institute FORMA’TERRA, and funded through Heritage Villas Valriche’s CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) program, provides participants with the basic skills necessary to grow their own produce using sustainable practices. As well as encouraging the farmers towards sustainable entrepreneurship, this initiative supports the development of a circular economy in the region by creating the opportunity for Heritage Resorts hotels to source produce locally.

Autobiographical account: a nod to Guy Hugnin

March 1st 1955, marked Guy Hugnin’s first foray into the sphere of tourism. Starting his career at the Mauritius Travel & Tourist Bureau (MTTB), Hugnin played an active role in the industry over the years, notably with the creation of Veranda Resorts, Croisières Australes, and Heritage Resorts, as well as in the freight sector, with Cargo Express. As a privileged witness to the take-off of Air Mauritius, President of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority and Honorary Consul of Hungary, Guy Hugnin was a key contributor to making tourism one of the pillars of Mauritius’ development. Rogers Capital, ultra-fast Internet service provider

Rogers Capital has deployed a fibre- optic network at 33 points across the island, offering very high speed and secure bandwidth, to become an ultra-fast Internet service provider for businesses. Rogers Capital is also expanding its international presence, with 14 nodes in the Indian Ocean, Africa, Asia, Europe and the United States. This connectivity – at one gigabit per second! – will offer Mauritian businesses optimal working conditions and improve their productivity.
